A watch is a timeless accessory, an essential- one that is
unique to each of us and our personal style. A watch doesn't just tell time- it
also tells a lot about the person wearing it, from their personal style, personality
and priorities.
JORD (Swedish for earth, soil and land) is a luxury watch
brand whose watches are made of- get this- wood. Don't leave yet! I know that you're
thinking. It likely looks cheap or dull. Right? Wrong.
These watches are absolutely stunning. JORD sent me one to take a look at and I am in love- with both the quality, the comfort and the style. The quality leaves nothing to be desired. They are very light in weight yet feel sturdy, and are extremely comfortable to wear- all of which are surprising considering the material we are talking about here. And there are so many rad options, from timeless and chic to funky.
Placing sustainability and eco-friendly of upmost
importance, JORD watches are handcrafted from sustainably sourced, natural
woods- from Maple, Bamboo, Koa, Zebrawood, and Sandalwood. They treat their
wood with natural products to safeguard both the environment and their workers.
Even the care instructions are green, suggesting using olive oil and lemon to
clean your watch and walnut oil or butcher block to maintain it. The glass is sapphire glass, which is actually a synthetic crystal rather than actual glass, and is second to the diamond as the hardest and most scratch resistant material on earth.
My watch, the Frankie Series in ebony and gold, might as well have been made particularly for me. It's made of Ebony wood- a wood found in East Africa, known for its high saturation of color and glossy sheen. It's oversized, minimal and all black with gold accents. It's timeless in it's simple sophistication, but done with an edge A little bit tomboy chic and a little bit rock n' roll. It effectively portrays my sense of style, yet also says that I am conscious, and I care as much about where what I am wearing is coming from as I do how it looks.
