How Fashion Proved It's Feminist AF This Month

Missoni sent her models down the runway wearing "pink pussy hats"

Prabal Gurung sent his models out for the finale all rocking female empowerment t-shirts, with slogans including "girls just want to have fundamental rights, "our minds, our bodies, our power", and "the future is female".

Older models brought a fresh perspective to the runways this fashion month. Both Tome and Dries Van Noten featured older women on their runways, while Simone Rocha celebrated 4 mature models, Jan de Villeneuve, Benedetta Barzini, Marie Sophie Wilson, and Cecilia Chancellor.

Designer Christian Siriano made a statement of female empowerment by casting a group of models of all shapes, sizes, and colors.

This beautiful badass is Halima Aden. She was the first pageant contestant to wear a burkini in the swimsuit competition before debuting on the runway in New York during the Yeezy Season 5 show and continuing on to walk for Alberta Ferretti and Max Mara in Milan.

Maria Grazia Chiuri did Dior's collection entirely in blue, a color she considers genderless. Much less subtle than her "we should all be feminists" t-shirts she sent her models out in last season, but her message of female empowerment was still there none the less.

Marc Jacobs featured one of the most diverse lineups of models this fashion month, including openly transgender model Casil McArthur.

Jonathan Simkhai wore a “Feminist AF” t-shirt for his finale bow.

Ashish showed an entire line of boldly colored, sequined outfits emblazoned with political slogans like “Nasty Woman,” “Stay Woke,” “Love Sees No Colour,” “Fall in Love and Be More Tender,” and “More Glitter Less Twitter.”

Models carried signs with slogans like "My Body, My Choice" and "Adam Lippes Stands With Planned Parenthood" in Washington Square Park.
