1.
Morning Lemon
First
thing upon waking, before eating or drinking anything else, drink a glass of
room temperature water with the juice of one lemon. You can also add some
ginger or cayenne pepper for extra health and energy. Lemon
balances maintain the pH levels in the body, aids the digestive track, pumps up
the immune system and helps cleanse the liver. Adding ginger is great because
it is a potent anti-inflammatory root, while cayenne is a detoxifier and also
acts as a stimulator of the circulatory system.
2.
Eat Fats!
The
good fat, of course. There are many health benefits, as well as beauty
benefits, associated with eating foods rich in monounsaturated and
polyunsaturated fat. Stock up on avocados, olive oil, nut butters and salmon!
3.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate.
Our
bodies constantly need to be rehydrated. Drink a gallon of water per day if you
can!
Brewed
tea, coconut water, maple water and watermelon water are great to replenish or
detox but should not be in leau of drinking water.
4.
Avoid refined sugar
Just
don't do it. Processed sugar is horrible for your body, your organs, heart,
liver, immune system, skin, you name it- and will cause of kinds of health
problems and diseases, including cancer. Avoid consuming processed sugar at all
costs, and when it comes to cooking and baking, use maple syrup, dates and raw
honey to sweeten your food instead.
5.
Eat every color of the rainbow
Phytonutrients
are natural chemical compounds found in all plants. Phytonutrients give plants
and vegetables their different colors and each color is packed with different
vitamins and nutrients. A colorful diet of a variety of fruits and vegetables
is a definitive way to ensure your body is getting a wide range of nutrients.
