Pleated Midi & One Shoulder Top

pleated midi skirt, one shoulder top, ballerina flats

I love me a good pleated midi skirt. Unlike many statement skirts that come and go, the pleated midi has stood the test of time for a couple of seasons, and don't seem to be really going anywhere. And thanks to its austere mid-calf length, it's also surprisingly versatile. I love them with chunky sweaters and loafers in cooler weather, a graphic tee and sneakers in the summer, and everything in between. They work great with nearly every type of shoe and boot and can be used as the base to some really fun outfit combos. I chose a one shoulder top from Zara in a shirting fabric to keep in summery yet polished. And I am in love the blue and green color combo. The black, strappy, buckled flats really pulled the look together for me and gave it more of a rock and roll vibe.

As seen on the Spring 2016 runways of Loewe, Gucci and Proenza Schouler, midi skirts have been hot this spring, specifically in metallics, but I am really looking forward to the Fall versions, done in, say, velvet.
