In 1971, Congress made August 26th Women's Equality Day to commemorate the day women were granted the right to vote back in 1921. Today, nearly 100 later, a woman is running as a major party candidate for the first time in U.S. history, a milestone that the original suffragettes would have given anything to witness. Progress is undeniably slow but so long as we, women and men alike, continue to raise our voices and fight, we will reach full autonomy sooner rather than later.
