This season's dark lips calls for confidence and fierce femininity! I am obsessed with how beautiful and strong the look is. The look is obviously appropriate for night, but let's avoid boring ourselves to death and talk about the dark lip for day. Trust me, when worn right, it totally works. I love to see an almost black lip for day paired with jeans and a simple tee, or perhaps a silky pajama piece like a slip dress or loose pant. Talk up the simplest way to up the drama. When it comes to everything else above the neck, I think the prettiest way to wear the look is with an otherwise bare face and sleek hair, either pulled back into a strong ponytail or interesting bun. A strong, clean eyebrow is also necessary because it really balances the face since the rest of your skin should be bare or neutral.
Louis Vuitton and Dior featured the look in their Fall 2016 RTW collections. According to Allure.com, make-up artist Peter Philips achieved the look for Dior by lining the lips with Dior Rouge Contour Lip Liner in Poison, a deep-purple shade, then filled in the lips with a black eyeliner pencil, which he describes as a trick to intensify the color and make it last longer. He finished with a layer of Rouge Dior Lipstick in Poison, a creamy, blackened-plum color that will be available this Fall.
