We all know that meat and eggs are good sources of complete proteins- however they are also a good source of cancer causing chemicals, additives and saturated fats that are bad for your health. Plant based proteins are better for your health and for the environment. And despite popular belief, it's easy to get enough protein without eating animal products!
Proteins are known as the building
blocks of life: They break down into amino acids in the body to promote cell
growth and repair. There are 9 different amino acids that we need to eat
because the body cannot produce on our own- these are called essential amino
acids. In order for a protein to be considered “complete,” it must contain all
nine of these essential amino acids.
We only need a sufficient amount of amino acids every day and plant-based diets contain such a wide variety of amino acid profiles that vegetarians are can get all of their amino acids with little effort. In addition, eating vegetarian proteins are better for your health, cheaper and better for the environment.
