Keeping Color Bright
We all love the feeling of our freshly dyed hair- rich color and
ultra shiny. But if you’re like me, you do not love going to the salon every
month to achieve this. Too much time, too far, you’re too hungry, you don’t
have enough gas for the round trip which means you have to make a stop at
Chevron, you don’t really care but you should, blah blah. I struggle a month
with the thoughts "I need to do something about this dull mop" and
"ugh, if I’m going to drive that way down Santa Monica Blvd, I would
rather just go to that restaurant and gorge myself". But I have found the at-home solution to our troubles.....
Getting a gloss is nothing new, but they are typically done in the salon to freshen up color between appointments. Or there are the at-home clear glosses designed for all hair colors, which do make your hair shiny (at least the Fekkai Salon Glaze Clear Shine Rinse does) but don’t refresh your dye job.
But now there is an alternative to bridge the gap between dull,
drab color and dragging yourself to the salon for a hair pick-me-up. Just go to
Target or CVS, find the John Frieda Color Refreshing Gloss and take it home
with you immediately. It comes in 6 different shades- cool and warm for blonde,
brunette and red.
I tried it and I love it. You put it on in the shower after
shampooing, let it sit for at least 3 minutes, rinse and witness the power of
this stuff. Super easy. Do use gloves however because I didn’t and my hands
were stained brown for 3 days.
The first thing I noticed was that my hair was ultra soft. I
don’t know what’s in this stuff but it allowed a breezy brush through of my
hair, which is not usually the case. I could see immediately, hair still wet,
that my locks were super shiny. The light was bouncing right off my head. I
couldn’t quite tell yet how my color looked but once my hair had dried, I was
smitten. My color looked fresh and bright!
I only wash my hair twice a week so this could be different for you if you are a daily washer, but the effects lasted a good 3-4 weeks for me. So as you can imagine, I was elated that it got me through another month or so before I had to make that haul down Santa Monica Blvd again.
