With models like Andreja Pejic, Hari Nef and Lea T taking the modeling industry by storm, it was only a matter of time before a a trans-only modeling agency popped up. Apple Model Management was founded in Thailand and was the first agency in history to have a trans division. The agency has announced that they will be opening an all-trans branch in L.A. this summer!
Cecilio Asuncion, who directed
"What's The T", a documentary released in 2013 about the lives of
five transgender women, will serve as agency director of the Los Angeles
branch. Asuncion told The Advocate. “Our strong commitment to developing them
as successful models is never about quantifying or qualifying their gender.
It’s never a question of if they are women or men, it’s about their passion and
commitment to being the best possible models they can be.”
This is a huge step forward for the trans community and a giant leap towards a more diverse fashion industry!
